Bad news : You are not to leave whatever you are doing now.
In short, I was supposed to report to a new place and to cover new areas, a normal procession in civil service. The movement is designed so that you will encumber yourself with as much knowledge and experience and be well-equipped once you hold senior posts later in your career. The worst that could happen to a civil servant is to be trapped in one post for longer than necessary, doing the same job and becoming specialised in one field. If that happens, your career path will be cast in stone and you are doomed practically (I'm speaking purely on a logical conjecture, but I never discount the fact that Allah will eventually deal a good hand if you do your work sincerely and with all amanah).
At this point, I am really on the threshold of entering the least favoured path in the service.
What should have been good news turned out to be one of the more frustrating ones. Let's just hope that there's hikmah behind all this. Insya Allah...

Insya Allah, in the next 9 months,by the grace of Allah, Aily & I will be going through all the experience of bringing another soul into this world for the second time. The news came as a surprise for the both of us since we were not "vigorously" trying to enlarge the family at the moment.Emil has proved to be quite a terror and we were still adjusting to our new timetable (work + study).Just like last time, it happened when we were least expecting it.However, it is a pleasant surprise, nevertheless.
We could not really determine the age of the pregnancy since Aily could not remember the last time she had her period. But it could not be more than 8 weeks. The visit to the doctor only revealed that the place for the baby in the womb is ready. We are advised to come back next month. Some say, at this stage, it is still early to say anything and it is better to wait until the first trimester to be over before telling everybody. Crap. What's wrong with telling and sharing the wonderful news with everybody? I know pregnancy is very delicate and anything can happen for the next 9 months. But, isn't all that in Allah's hands?
Aily is already having her morning, afternoon, evening and night sickness. She could not smell the smell of cooking. Only the back is killing her.So far, she has not asked for anything yet. I hope things will be like when she was carrying Emil. We have already taken out all the minyak urut and minyak panas for the feet. Let's just hope that we will only be needing that in the later stage.
We have also started throwing ideas to Emil that he is soon to have brother/sister, that Mama got baby in the stomach. I think he does not understand just yet. But he will be soon when Aily's stomach is getting bigger...
As for me, I am just happy that our rezeki is really murah in this department of life. We may have not won lucky draws as often as we like, but when I draw my tutttttt, sure lucky one mehh...hahahahah

Emil is getting naughtier by the day and our patience are running really, really thin sometimes. Last night, we took him to the mart near our place. Punya la degil. I have to dragged him to get into the car after we did our shopping. While I was closing the door, aku dah angin dah to the max....then, PANGGGGGG...one tight slap on the buttocks. Not that I have not slapped him before but honest to god, that was the tightest slap I ever gave.
A few moments of silence. Then he started to profusely asked for his Mama's forgiveness. Aikkk, bukan aku ke yang lempang dia tadi???? He dared only to speak to me after we got home. Itu pun sebab nak mintak maaf.
Ku sangkakan panas hingga ke petang, rupanya hujan di tengahari. Not long after that, he was back his usual self. Jumping, running, wrestling, the whole works.
Hmmmm, boys will be boys.
I met Murzali a few weeks back. Yes, the Murzali. The object of my curiousity in one of my previous postings. And we talked. Murzali's not actually a stranger to me since we did spend one year in UM together doing CLP. He passed. I did not. We crossed paths again not long after that. We were two of 3 candidates being interviewed for a post in Petronas few months after our CLP session ended. He got it. I did not.
To recap, the object of my curiousity then was why on earth Murzali bothered to register as a member of MCOBA since he only spent few weeks in koleq. To my surprise, he read it. Never in my wildest dream that that particular posting will find its way to him.
Naturally the topic of our conversation revolved around that posting. He contended that spent more than few weeks in Koleq. He demanded that I re-post to rectify the facts. He stopped short of demanding full apology, though.
So, here I am. Murzali, if you are reading this, if you did spend more than few weeks in koleq, I stand corrected. And I apologised. The posting was never meant to deny your rights to join MCOBA. Reportedly, YM Tg Razaleigh Hamzah is also a member though he spent only 3 great days in koleq before moving on to Anderson. On that token, you are more rightful to join MCOBA.
But I am no less curious...
p/s : you just don't have any idea what you have missed, my friend...

In my latest attempt to get Emil to buckle up in the car, I told him that the characters in "Little Einsteins", one of his favourite cartoon shows, always wear their seatbealts whenever they start their adventure. The only difference is, the Little Einsteins fly in an aeroplane.
I was so sure of my success that I was smiling even before I finished my sentence. Then came the reply, "...nanti Emil naik aeroplane, Emil pakai la seatbelt...".

Most of the time, it is the physical traits that are often being compared to the parents. Even when the child is only barely days old, friends, relatives will pass comments such as, '...hmmm, telinga macam mama die la..." or "...mmmmm, mata macam abah die...".
But, in our case, for the past 2++ years, we only have this to endure : "...hmmmm, budak ni ikut rupa sapa hah???".

Just as I was writing this, Portugal WC team is rejoicing the win against England which brought them to their first semi final of the competition in 40 years. And England extended their worst record in the penalty shoot out. As our 2 past colonial masters battling it out on the field, I was quietly hoping that it will be England that will go through to the semis. It's not that I like the team, it's just that I really hate one Mr Cristiano Ronaldo. Tak tau pasal apa, tapi memang la aku tak suka langsung mamat tu.
Having said that, just what the hell was Crouch doing in Germany? Or in the EPL for that matter?

We, my wife & I, are going to watch Lantai T.Pinkie at Istana Budaya tonight. So far the review has been good and the main attraction i.e. back portion of Nasha Aziz's body has been said not to be disappointing. Let me see for myself first & let's just hope that her backside isn't the only thing worth watching tonight.

Many things have happened since the last post. Most notable, I have turned 29 on April 13th. Friends, thanks for the wishes. No gifts, eh? I bought a book as a present for myself. Sad, you think?
Aily sent me for a thai massage at City Square. No hanky panky, maa. Laki yang urut, not even ladyboy.
Also, there was the lepak session after weekly futsal which I managed to attend, taking full advantage of Aily being oustation. Lepas geram. Lama tak lepak. Qourom : myself, Joe, chib, bally, picca. Agenda : kutuk any poor souls yang lalu malam tu. nobody was spared. Chib announced his wedding date. Further details, you will all have to ask him yourself. Or wait for his announcement. He gave his word that there will be a bachelor party before the wedding. Anyway, don't hold your breath though.
My balls are still functioning after taking direct hit during the game.

After 3 years of untiring effort, Aily has made it and today, I am proud to announce to the world (at least to those who are reading this) that my MUCH LOVED WIFE has mastered the art of cooking curry. Orders are welcomed...hehehehehe....
To Aily, thanks for not giving up. Next assignment, sambal tumis petai macam mak buat...

As y'all probably know, one of the four is Sdr Murzali, who spent less than a month in Koleq. However, FYI, MCOBA did run a background check on him as apparently nobody can verify that the poor chap had actually spent some time in Koleq. Having said this, few questions come to mind :
i. Kalau dah orang tu tak pernah masuk koleq, buat apa la dia sibuk2 nak jadi MCOBA member?
ii. Why on earth la the poor chap wants to join MCOBA since he wouldn't have any recollection & association of any sort with koleq?

So, intelligence is in abundance these days. Were we not very clever back then or kids nowadays are just getting better & better?
A note of caution : won't this lead to inflation of straight As students in the country?

If you have not seen the advert, consider yourself lucky. Annoying gile iklan tu. Dah le annoying, tv asyik le pulak ulang. Running time pulak panjang. Sakit hati aku.
Lagi aku tengok advert tu, lagi meluat aku. Geli-geleman pun ada. Korang tak rasa macam tu ke? The part which I hate most is that part when the guy on the bicycle sings. Ishhhhh, rasa nak penampar pun ada. Lagi sorang nak kena penampar, budak pompuan kat dalam iklan tu. Diorang ingat abis hip hop la tu.
Mintak simpang la keturunan aku buat perangai lagu tu.

It is a shame that the outcome of the uproar against the cartoon strip resulted in the cartoon not being published again in the NST. I read NST everyday and the strip is one of the things that I look forward to everyday. IMHO, the cartoon is a good piece and witty.
The matter has not been handled well, I think.Further, I think too many people wanted to be seen to be in thick of the action that the handling of the matter was quite a spectacle in itself.
For now, I am left with reruns of 'Baby Blues' and 'Peanuts'.
It is quite depressing when you know you can't really feel sad as the hope of getting it back is nil, none whatsoever and the only thing you can do is to curse yourself in silence for not listening to your wife when she reminds you to put those things in the trunk.
It is also quite depressing when the words of sympathy offered to you upon relating the mishap quickly turned into quiet and in most cases, not-so-quiet disdain when you tell them that where the bag actually was...("Hmmmmm, patut la...")
But the saddest part of all (I guess this happpens to everybody who have experienced this one way or another) is losing all the pictures stored in the computer. That is priceless. The pics of the Emil's early years are now gone and irreplaceable. And even after these few days, the thought of losing all the pics makes me feel down a bit.
I now learnt my lesson and I hope I learnt it well...

To the uninitiated, Mpro is a very, very good friend of mine. The friendship stretches back to our schooldays in Kuala Kangsar. I was one (and there were so many) of the beneficiaries of his & his parents' generosity which know no bounds.
He is now living in Melaka with his wife & a son and welcomes anyone who dares to fight him on a round of golf.

Abah came across this beautiful poem by Dorothy Law Neite while surfing the Net. Good pointers for us in raising Emil...
If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child learns to feel shame, he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world.

This is a good one...
There was once a plane crash, and when the lady sole-survivor regained consciousness, she found herself surrounded by `savages`.
Fearing for her life she started `Me no hostile, me no hostile..`
At which, the Chief responded:`Lady, me know all style - dog style, horse style etc`

There you have it. You have got to hand it to this guy. His argument alone will make Kementerian Pelajaran officials squirm in their seats and retract the permission for the students to use handphones in school come Monday.

Skipper Umaga announces retirement from All Blacks
By David Brooks
WELLINGTON, (AFP) - New Zealand captain Tana Umaga drew the curtain on a glittering international rugby career Tuesday, announcing his retirement from playing for his country to spend more time with his family.
Umaga, 32, played 74 Tests for the All Blacks and 21 as captain since taking over from Reuben Thorne in 2004. Renowned for his crunching tackling and strong running, he played his first 18 Tests on the wing before moving to outside centre and inside centre, scoring 36 Test tries.
"I want to spend more time with my family, and I just believe I sacrificed a lot of time with my family to wear the black jersey," he told a press conference. "I did that willingly but now it's time for me to sacrifice something and give it back to my family."
All Black coach Graham Henry said he was sad and disappointed by the decision of his dreadlocked skipper but agreed with his reasons. "I think its a reflection on Tana's strength as a person and development as a person that he's got his priorities right," Henry said. "This day is a special day I think. This is one of the great All Blacks and he's retiring from the game. He was great as a player, he was very brave, led from the front, a fine defender, a huge determination to win, one of the great All Black captains."
Umaga was born near Wellington of Samoan parents and was the first player of Pacific Island descent to lead the All Blacks.
Tuesday's announcement ended months of speculation following press reports late last year that Umaga would be playing his last match against Scotland. He first broached the possibility of retirement with Henry in June last year but the coach persuaded him the prospect of the Grand Slam -- only the All Blacks' second in a century -- was too good to miss.
