Handphone In Schools

This is the excerpt taken from today's Utusan Malaysia's headline.

...Pengerusi Yayasan Pendidikan Cheras, Senator Datuk Syed Ali Alhabshee berkata, penggunaan telefon bimbit boleh menyebabkan salah laku moral yang akhirnya menjejaskan dasar pendidikan negara.``Sebagai contoh, pelajar mungkin akan menghendap dan merakam gambar pelajar atau guru perempuan di dalam tandas. Lebih dibimbangi sekiranya gambar ini disebarkan oleh pelajar yang tidak bertanggungjawab menerusi telefon bimbit,'' katanya dalam satu kenyataan di sini hari ini. Beliau mengulas kenyataan Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran, Datuk Dr. Ahamad Sipon semalam mengenai kebenaran menggunakan telefon bimbit di kalangan para pelajar...

There you have it. You have got to hand it to this guy. His argument alone will make Kementerian Pelajaran officials squirm in their seats and retract the permission for the students to use handphones in school come Monday.
Come on. There are surely 1,000,001 other arguments against the usage of handphones and this 'distinguished' chap could only come up with this lousy one. I bet he was one of those students who use to do just that, albeit using comparatively more primitive tools...heheheheh...
Nevertheless, to give him the benefit of my doubt, he could have listed the other 1,000,001 arguments during the interview. Probably the reporter wanted to be particularly funny. Worse still, this could have been the only one worth reporting. However, this one comment from the former D-G of Education worth noting.
...Bekas Ketua Pengarah Pendidikan, Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Arshad pula percaya, pelbagai masalah akan timbul sekiranya para pelajar dibenarkan membawa telefon bimbit di sekolah termasuk kes kecurian.Selain itu, katanya, penggunaan telefon bimbit oleh pelajar di sekolah akan menimbulkan jurang pemisah antara pelajar miskin dan kaya hingga mencetus suasana yang tidak harmoni...
